Michael Stechison / Doctor Stech and Nervous Habit: Home
Welcome to my website. I am a jazz pianist and vocalist and songwriter. I play either as a solo act; with my trio, Doctor Stech and Nervous Habit; or with my bass player or drummer. My trio members are Reginald Hogan on upright and electric bass; on drums is either Matt Bryant, or Dr. Cheryl Gratton, my wife. If you are interested in booking me or the band for your event or your club, please check out audio clips on this site, or my EPK at www.sonicbids.com/doctorstech. While we play mostly in the Atlanta area, I have played from Paris to the Caribbean and am willing to travel for an exciting gig opportunity. You may also hear my work at www.myspace.com/doctorstech or www.gigmasters.com/keyboards/DrMichaelTStechison or www.songplacements.com/DoctorStech. You will also find numerous entries on YouTube under my name. Please check out the long samples of me and the Dr. Michael Stechison trio featured on this website as well as some free downloads. If you like what you hear, I hope you will choose to buy either my 2006 or my 2009 CD - both are available in iTunes music store - under michael stechison for the first, and under Doctor Stech and Nervous Habit for the second. My third CD is expected out in 2011 and will be all original material. WE ARE AVAILABLE TO ENTERTAIN AT YOUR NEXT PRIVATE EVENT including weddings, engagements, private parties, and corporate events. I can be hired as a solo pianist and vocalist. duo with either bass or drums, or the trio. We can provide sedate background lounge type music or we can take it up a notch and have you dancing and rocking. Please contact me by leaving a message in the Guestbook, or calling 404.522.3330. I am really glad you came to visit and I sincerely hope it was an inspiring experience. Please check the news/journal section and the calendar dates and drop by to hear me if you can. Please note that as of October 8, 2006, both of my CD's are available on iTunes and most of the other digital music download sites like Amazon, Rhapsody, etc. Please support independent music and Enjoy! If you missed my CD review in the March 2007 issues of Jazziz you can buy one online at www.Jazziz.com. It includes one of my songs on their sampler disc along with Ella Fitzgerald, Sonny Rollins and others. Please take a look at the Atlanta Journal Constitution feature article about my music that was on the cover of the Living Section on August 18, 2008. In addition, there is a feature about me in the June 2010 Atlanta magazine. I am excited about the new Live at the Red Light Cafe disc. It is much more representative of my club work and features the trio Doctor Stech and Nervous Habit with Matt Bryant on drums and Ray Bivens on bass. About half the tunes have vocals and two of the songs are original compositions. Ray has left since the CD was produced, but Reginald Hogan a very experienced and talented musician is now filling the bass position with both the upright as well as bass guitar. The 2011 disc that is still in pre-production stages will be all originals most of which have lyrics. It will be a departure from my usual style and a foray more into the singer-songwriter genre.
